Mi-C3’s software began in the early 2000s as a project for a large oil and gas company operating across multiple countries. It had to manage a complex operation and considerable security risk across a wide, hard-to-reach area, years before the Internet of Things was widely understood.
The starting point was command and control: giving an organisation the situational awareness to manage and secure its facilities. The company name adds collaboration, so the people who see a problem and the people who fix it work from the same record.
Glen Scott founded Mi-C3 in 2014 to bring that work to every operator that needs a consolidated, real-time view of a complex operation. Its focus today is critical infrastructure. The platform became Affectli. It models the operation as a live ontology. Its data fabric, one connected layer across the systems already in place, connects to everything the operator runs and replaces nothing. Data sovereignty stays with the operator, which owns its data and decides where Affectli runs.
